Visuals created by Steve Compagno.
The picture at the bottom represents the current scenario on St Joseph High Road, the main road in Hamrun. The visual at the top represents the proposed transformation of the area by Mayor Christian Sammut. " I believe that cars must not remain a priority" said Mr.Sammut who is gathering public feedback about his proposition to convert the area from St Paul’s Square to the San Gejtanu church into a pedestrian zone.
Would you like to be given priority over cars on this road? Should it be a full-time conversion or restricted to access by foot only on weekends? Write your opinions in the comments below.

Yes I think a lot if areas should be priority to the people, which will create less pollution in the areas.
1Pedestrians should always be given priority over cars. Pedestrian areas bring benefits to everyone : local businesses will flourish , citizens will lead a healthier life, use environmental transport like bycicles and scooters will increase , there is more space for events, socialising and ultimately even the elderly and children will benefit very much from a car free zone. Go for it !
1Vera Schembri Good idea, but how do people get to their houses then? Parallel roads are too narrow for the buses
2It would just be so refreshing for a local council in Malta to make this happen and I really do think it will lead to so many good things like healthier and happier residents as well as more space for nature! I really hope Hamrun Local Council manages to make this happen!
