Mario cycles his son to school and then to the office
This is Mario,
Mario does not use his car to drive his son to school or to go to work. Mario cycles whenever he can to wherever he can.
By Cycling, Mario is not only saving money, saving fuel, generating less pollution, less stress, and has more time on his hands, but he is also keeping healthy and enjoying some quality time with his son on their way to and from school.
Are you ready to #jointhechange and be like Mario? Do you think it is possible, especially on our busy streets? Do you think it is possible to use the bicycle as an alternative sustainable daily means of transportation around the Maltese islands ?
We would like to know.- leave us a comment below and tell us if you are ready to #jointhechange

I used to live in the Netherlands and as we all know Dutch people in love with riding bikes and buckets. I am about to give birth and in the closest future I want to get the cargo bike (a bike with a big wooden bucket in front), so I can place a child or two, groceries and even a pushchair. But I am not completely sure how safe it is to drive it in Malta since there are no special bike rouds, also in my point of view Maltese drivers are not enough qualified to drive, and also they don't really follow the rules. But I believe I still can make it work.
1Great idea to get a cargo bike. There are plenty of roads that are safe to cycle but there are others which are not as of yet. So please inform yourself well. You can contact the Rota community or even ask for advice over here for specific routes. Wish you all the best. And yes, there is definitely room for improvement on how to consider cyclists on the roads by drivers.
